CCCB Welcomes New Staff
Wednesday, September 15 2010Ottawa – The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) has appointed Dr. Glenn CJ Byer Director of Publications. Although born and raised in Canada, Dr. Byer comes from Denver, Colorado, where he worked as E-products Director for Church Publishing. Previously, he had been with Oregon Catholic Press from 2001 to 2008 as managing editor and e-products and services manager. Dr. Byer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, a Master’s in liturgy from the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and a doctorate in liturgy from the Sant’ Anselmo Pontifical Institute for Liturgy in Rome.
The CCCB has also welcomed Mr. Patrick J. Fletcher as its new Theological Advisor. Currently finishing his PhD thesis in systematic theology with the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, Mr. Fletcher is also teaching a course in introductory theology at Saint Paul University, Ottawa. Prior to his CCCB appointment he served as a theological consultant with Catholic Christian Outreach in Ottawa, taught summer theology courses at Newman Theological College, Edmonton; and has been a teaching assistant at the Catholic University of America. He holds an STB in theology, magna cum laude, from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome; Master’s degrees in theology and in theological studies from Newman Theological College, and a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon.
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is the national assembly of the Bishops of Canada. It was founded in 1943 and officially recognized by the Holy See in 1948. After the Second Vatican Council (1962–65), the CCCB became part of a worldwide network of Episcopal Conferences, established in 1965 as an integral part of the life of the universal Church.
