Pope praises media as truth seekers

In his Message for the 42nd World Communications Day, Pope Benedict XVI addresses the multifaceted realities of modern day media that “have acquired extraordinary potential, while raising new and hitherto unimaginable questions and problems…. The media, taken overall, are not only vehicles for spreading ideas: they can and should also be instruments at the service of a world of greater justice and solidarity.

The Media: At the Crossroads between Self-Promotion and Service Searching for the Truth in order to Share it with Others is the theme of World Communications Day celebrated 4 May 2008.
