Cornwall, Ontario – Today marked the mid-way point of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (CCCB) annual Plenary Assembly with ongoing discussion on a number of pastoral matters.
The Bishops resumed discussion of their pastoral relationship with Indigenous Peoples. In the spirit of embarking on a shared journey of healing and reconciliation, they considered the insights from the sharing circles held earlier this year in which they listened to the stories, concerns, and hopes of Indigenous Peoples across the country. The Bishops also received an update on the activities of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP)-Caritas Canada.
The third day of the plenary included the annual meeting of the English Sector. This meeting brings together Bishops from English dioceses to receive information on liturgical, catechetical and other matters which are closely tied to language and culture. The meeting of the French Sector is scheduled for Thursday, September 27, 2018.
