Relations with Catholic Associations and Movements
Mandate
Through dialogue and regular meetings, the Standing Committee for Relations with Catholic Movements and Associations facilitates the relationship of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) with Catholic movements and associations of national standing in Canada. The Standing Committee evaluates and makes recommendations to the Permanent Council regarding those Catholic movements and associations seeking canonical recognition as public or private “associations of the faithful”. It also maintains a list of national Catholic associations, movements and organizations present throughout Canada. Since 1996, the Bishops have convened forums with such groups to help foster among them an awareness of their charisms and missions as well as a sense of mutual respect and enrichment based on their common love for Christ and the Church.
