Canadian Catholic organizations welcome donations to assist Filipinos and Syrians

Friday, August 17, 2012

The Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace (CCODP) has announced it is inviting donations to assist flood victims in Manila and the surrounding area, as well as collaborating with aid efforts by Caritas Internationalis and local partners in the Philippines. Information is available on the Development and Peace website.

CNEWA-Canada is collecting funds to assist refugees fleeing Syria. The Holy Father has already appealed several times this year for international efforts to assist the refugees as well as to encourage peace efforts in Syria itself. Background information on the Syrian crisis has been broadcast by Salt + Light TV, including an interview with Father Paolo Dall’Oglio, a Jesuit priest expelled from Syria earlier this year.

Salt + Light TV also focused a recent edition of its “Perspectives” series specifically on responding to the Syrian crisis. The video, “What’s the Christian response to Syria?”, can be found on the Salt + Light TV website.
