Cardinal Collins takes possession of his titular church in Rome

Cardinal_Collins_in_Rome-2His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, has taken possession of his titular church in Rome on October 23, 2012. The church is San Patrizio on Via Boncompagni. Traditionally, Cardinals are each assigned a particular church in Rome, although today they no longer participate in managing these churches. Cardinal Collins was elevated to the College of Cardinals during the Consistory that took place in Vatican City on February 18, 2012.  The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, had announced the nomination of the new Cardinals on January 6, 2012. Archbishop Collins is the fourth Cardinal in the history of the Archdiocese of Toronto and the 16th Cardinal in the history of the Catholic Church in Canada
