Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace

Pope Leo XIV has announced a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace to be observed on Friday, August 22, 2025, the Liturgical Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Speaking at his weekly General Audience, the Holy Father invited the faithful worldwide to unite in prayer for an end to the wars afflicting the Holy Land, Ukraine, and other regions. Emphasizing Mary’s role as Queen of Peace, the Pope urged all believers to intercede so that peace and justice may prevail and that those who suffer may find consolation.
