Installation of the new Bishop of Sault Ste-Marie

damphousseThe Most Reverend Marcel Damphousse will be installed as Bishop of Sault Ste-Marie at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption in North Bay, on January 13, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. The Most Reverend Brendan M. O’Brien, Archbishop of Kingston, will preside. The Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, will be present, participating with over 30 other Bishops from Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces. At the time of his appointment by Pope Francis on November 12, 2015, as Bishop of Sault Ste-Marie Bishop Damphousse was then Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall. The Most Reverend Jean-Louis Plouffe has been Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste-Marie for the past 25 years. He offered his resignation to the Holy Father on reaching the age of 75, as required by the Code of Canon Law.
