Life and family suggestions for homilies and prayers of the faithful during March 2018
Wednesday, February 28, 2018With the upcoming major celebrations of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) again posts possible homily ideas and prayers of the faithful to help link the Sunday liturgy with the national pastoral initiative for life and family. The proposed texts for the month of March 2018 include suggestions from the 3RD Sunday of Lent, 4 March, to the solemn celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord (Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday), 31 March and 1 April. In addition, it includes suggestions for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, 29 March, and for Good Friday’s celebration of the Passion of the Lord, 30 March. The 5th Sunday of Lent, 18 March, is Solidarity Sunday, the major focus for the Share Lent Campaign of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace / Caritas Canada and its annual Lenten collection, while Palm Sunday, 25 March, is the Sunday selected for diocesan celebrations of World Youth Day. As usual, the suggestions for homilies and prayers can be easily adapted for family prayer, as well as for personal prayer or for use with other groups or organizations during Lent and Easter 2018. The texts for the month of March are available on the special Life and Family webpage, under the section “Documents and activities proposed by the CCCB“.
