Ordination of new Bishop of Kamloops
Monday, August 15, 2016The episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend Joseph Phuong Nguyen and his installation as Bishop of the Diocese of Kamloops will take place on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., at the Sandman Centre (arena), Kamloops, B.C. The Most Reverend J. Michael Miller, C.S.B., Archbishop of Vancouver, will preside as the principal ordaining Bishop, along with the Most Reverend David J. J. Monroe, Bishop Emeritus of Kamloops, and the Most Reverend Stephen Jensen, Bishop of Prince George, as co-consecrators. The Counsellor of the Apostolic Nunciature of Canada, Msgr. Fermin Emilio Sosa Rodriguez, will be also present. The Most Reverend Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg, will deliver the homily. At the time of his appointment on June 1, 2016, Bishop Nguyen was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. He succeeds Bishop Monroe who served the Diocese of Kamloops as Bishop for the past 14 years. He remains Apostolic Administrator of Kamloops until the new Bishop takes canonical possession of the Diocese. The celebration will be broadcast live on Salt + Light Television and The B.C.
