Ordination of the new Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith

The episcopal ordination of the Most Reverend Jon Paul Christian Hansen, C.Ss.R., as Bishop of the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith will take place on Friday, 16 March 2018, at 7:00 p.m., in the gymnasium of St. Patrick’s School, Yellowknife. The Most Reverend Gérard Pettipas, C.Ss.R., Archbishop of Grouard-McLennan and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Grouard-McLennan, will preside as the principal ordaining Bishop, along with as co-consecrators the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton, and the Most Reverend Héctor Felipe Vila, Bishop of Whitehorse. The Most Reverend Luigi Bonazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Canada, will be present, together with other Bishops from Canada. At the time of his appointment on 15 December 2017, Bishop-elect Hansen was pastor of Our Lady of Victory parish in Inuvik, Northwest Territories.
