The Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025

The Four Constitutions of Vatican II

In his letter to Archbishop Fisichella entrusting the preparation of the Jubilee Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope, Pope Francis said, “The four Constitutions of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council, together with the Magisterium of these recent decades, will continue to provide direction and guidance to God’s holy people so that it can press forward in its mission of bringing the joyful proclamation of the Gospel to everyone”. In light of this, to prepare for the Jubilee, the year 2023 has been named the Year of the Council.

To draw attention to the four Constitutions of Vatican II, the Dicastery produced a series of Council Notebooks to be used by the faithful to learn and reflect on the core documents of Vatican II that continue to guide and inspire the Church in its mission. In his introduction to the notebooks, Pope Francis wrote,  “Preparing for the Jubilee Year by taking up the fundamental texts of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council is a task that I ask everyone to welcome as a moment of growth in the faith.”

The Council Notebooks have been translated into English by the Indian Bishops’ Conference and can be purchased online at ATC Publishers
