CCCB President sends letter of condolences and prayers following shootings in Texas

The President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), the Most Reverend Lionel Gendron, P.S.S., Bishop of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, has written to His Eminence Daniel DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, following the shootings in the First Baptist Church, Sutherland Springs,Texas, this past Sunday, 5 November 2017. To date 26 people have died and at least another 20 were wounded; a number of the victims were children. The small Texas community is in the Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio. Earlier this week Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Holy See’s Secretary of State, conveyed the condolences of Pope Francis, and Cardinal DiNardo as well as a number of other US Bishops sent messages and prayers to the local community and the members of the First Baptist Church.
