His Eminence Cardinal Marc Ouellet
Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops
c/o Archdiocese of Quebec

Québec (QC)

Your Eminence,
Your appointment by the Holy Father as Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops and President of the Commission for Latin America is a tremendous honour not only for you but also for the Church in Canada.
Your life as a priest, a Sulpician, a professor, a Bishop and since 2003 as Cardinal has blessed you with varied and enriching experiences in Rome as well as throughout Canada and elsewhere in the world. Your having lived and worked in both French and in English, in Quebec and elsewhere in our country, has placed you in touch with North American culture. You bring to your new ecclesial responsibilities an extensive knowledge of the Church today, and a deep appreciation of its challenges and opportunities in the contemporary world. Your presence among us has been greatly appreciated, and we thank you for your contributions to the life of our Conference.
I can assure you that you are accompanied by the prayers and good wishes of all the Bishops of Canada, and by our full collaboration in your new responsibilities as Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops. My episcopal confreres and I look forward to the pleasure of seeing you in Rome, and hope your extensive duties will allow you also to visit us from time to time here in Canada.
Fraternally in Christ our Lord,
+ Pierre Morissette
Bishop of Saint-Jérôme
President
Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops
