On May 25^th, Msgr. Patrick Powers, P.H., CCCB General Secretary, had a brief visit/meeting with the Honourable Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism as well as Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Operations.  Mr. Kenney has represented the riding of Calgary-Southeast (Alberta) since 1997.  This was, for the CCCB, a first official visit by a Federal Minister since the elections held on May 2, 2011.  In the coming weeks, this visit will be followed by another meeting, this time with our President, the Most Reverend Pierre Morissette, Minister Kenney and the General Secretary.  It is scheduled for the month of June.

The CCCB is always eager to be brought up to date on Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism affairs.  In 2006, at the Word Day for Migrants, the CCCB published a Pastoral Letter entitled “Canada Must Demonstrate Every Effort to Welcome Immigrants and Refugees with Dignity“.
