Apostolic Administrator Appointed for the Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for Slovaks of the Byzantine rite in Canada

On Tuesday 20 October 2020, the Congregation for Eastern Churches announced that Pope Francis had accepted the resignation of the Most Reverend Marian Andrej Pacák, C.Ss.R., from the pastoral governance of the Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for Slovaks of the Byzantine rite in Canada. The Holy Father appointed the Most Reverend Kurt R. Burnette, Eparchial Bishop of the Byzantine-Rutherian Eparchy of Passaic (USA) as the Apostolic Administrator sede vacante of the same circumscription.

The Eparchy of Saints Cyril and Methodius for Slovaks of the Byzantine rite in Canada has four parishes, with a Catholic population of 1,500 served by four diocesan priests.
