Archbishop Terrence Prendergast appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall
Wednesday, January 13 2016(CCCB – Ottawa)… His Holiness Pope Francis today appointed the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J., Archbishop of Ottawa, as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall. Likewise today, the Most Reverend Marcel Damphousse has been installed as Bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste-Marie. The appointment of Bishop Damphousse was announced on November 12, 2015. From the time of his nomination until his installation as Bishop of Sault Ste-Marie, Bishop Damphousse served as the Diocesan Administrator of Alexandria-Cornwall.
According to the CCCB 2016 Directory, the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall has 28 parishes and missions, with a Catholic population of 55,570, which is served by 34 diocesan priests, three priests who are members of a religious community, 19 women religious and 18 permanent deacons.
