CCCB Delegation Set for Annual Visit to Rome
Thursday, November 04 2004(CCCB-Ottawa) A delegation from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) will be in Rome November 10-23 for meetings with officials from the Holy See which are held annually.

The group is composed of CCCB President Archbishop Brendan O’Brien, of Saint John’s; Vice President Archbishop André Gaumond of Sherbrooke, and General Secretary Msgr. Mario Paquette, P.H.
While in Rome, they will meet with various officials from the Curia, including the Secretariat of State, Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Congregation for Oriental Churches, Congregation for Devine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Congregation for Bishops, Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Congregation for Catholic Education, Congregation for the Clergy, Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Pontifical Council ‘Cor Unum’, Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerant Peoples as well as the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses.
The visit is expected to include an audience with the Holy Father. These meetings permit open exchanges on a regular basis between the Canadian Episcopal conference and the Roman Curia regarding common projects, preoccupations and challenges for the Catholic Church both in Canada and around the world.
Archbishop Gaumond and Msgr. Paquette will also participate in an ecumenical meeting November 11-13, sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, as part of the celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the Vatican II decree Unitatis Redintegratio on ecumenism.
