Resignation of Bishop Roch Pedneault
Saturday, June 15 2002(CCCB – Ottawa) – His Holiness Pope John Paul II today accepted the resignation of Most Rev. Roch Pedneault after 28 years of service as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Chicoutimi.
Having reached 75 years of age last April, Bishop Pedneault presented his resignation to the Pope as stipulated in Canon 401 of the Code of Canon Law.
Born in 1927 at Saint-Joseph d’Alma, Québec, he was ordained to the priesthood at Sainte-Cécile de Kénogami in 1953 and became auxiliary bishop of Chicoutimi in 1974.
